Recipe for Sambal Chilli Prawns

Hi all

After a few requests from some friends, here is the recipe for the sambal chilli prawns from the Singaporean dinner post.

Sambal prawns


Ingredients (Portion for 4):
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2 big tablespoons of sambal chilli paste - you can buy this from the Asian supermarket or make it yourself.
  • Ginger slices (about 5 small slices)
  • 2 handful of french beans or long beans (chopped into lengthwise about 1 inch long)
  • 500grams of king prawns, shelled but keep the tail, washed and pat dry
  • 2 tomatos, cut into quarters

1).Heat the oil in a wok. Wait until it is hot before adding the onions. Fry the onions for about 2 minutes.
2) Add sambal chilli paste and continue frying until fragrant
3) Add the ginger slices and french beans together. continue to fry for about 5 minutes
4) Add the prawns and tomatos together. Fry until the prawns becomes red color
5) Serve on a plate with some chopped corriander or spring onions
