Which is easier? Baking or cooking?

I realize that this question always pops up among conversations with friends. Some say cooking because you don't need be very accurate with the measurements of the ingredients. The others say baking because as long you follow the recipe, it always turns out alright.

Also in culinary school, you choose to study only one. Can pastry chefs also cook well and vice versa?
